Meet new EPP students!

We hope you enjoy the beginning of the summer. The Economic Society met the new M1 EPP students: they are doing a summer camp with math lessons to prepare for september (not very exciting summer…). They are expecting to hear your experience about the master program and to know all your advices to enjoy the first year as much as possible !

We propose you to come at the Basile on Monday the 11th of July at 8pm to share a drink with them. With summer time, it’s also the perfect opportunity for M2 students to meet a last time before leaving Paris and for M1 students to meet for those who came back from internship!

The 2nd edition of Eppsilon has arrived!

Dear friends,

The 2nd edition of Eppsilon - The Economic Society Magazine - has arrived in its printed, colorful version! The 30 pages magazine will be available to all interested in Sciences Po, Polytechnique and at ENSAE. If you prefer a PDF, you can also download the second Eppsilon here.

We’ll leave it to you for any contribution, you choose your price and the help you want to offer to this initiative. But this has not prevented us from letting you have unlimited access to the content of this magazine online.

We would like to thank once again all the contributors to Eppsilon, who have allowed us to launch a second edition of the same quality as the first one.

Have a very nice week-end and enjoy the reading!

March greetings: Job offers and a visit of Challenges magazine !

As half of you are recovering from some days off and the other half just enjoying the snow and the syn, The Economic Society wanted to take part in this great wave of happiness and relaxing times to share some presents with you.

First, we have sent our members a job and an internship offers at the Centre d’analyse stratégique in Paris, more specifically in their Sustainable development department. However, you may also send directly your own application, as several positions in this center, which also hosts the CEPII, might appear relevant to you.

Moreover, some of you are taking part in the “Observatoire des Politiques Publiques” co-organised with the editorial staff of the weekly magazine Challenges. In this partnership, they have kindly accepted to open for us the doors of one of their Wednesday’s editorial meetings. We have also kept some spots for students outside of the Observatoire project.

Be carfeful, the date has changed since our first messsage: this event will actually take place in the morning of March, 23th in their premises in the 2nd arrondissement.

You can register now by sending us an email with your contact and student information (school, class year).

Have a nice day and a nice week, full of snow and mulled wine (yes, don’t look up, that’s their weird way to say vin chaud)!

Come share a drink with fellow students and teachers at Café Six on Thursday, January 13th

Whether we are in M1 and you have some time those days, whether you are in M2 and you have just completed your finals, or you just like beer or cocktail, feel free to join! Some teachers should be around at the beginning, so if you want to talk to them in a relaxing atmosphere, please come by!

Thursday night, 13th January, starting at 8pm in the Café Six, 19 rue des Canettes, near the station Mabillon or Saint Sulpice.

We have reserved the cosy basement of the bar and negotiated special prices:

  • a pint for 5€

  • a cocktail for 6€

Cheers :)

Meet RBB Economics on Nov. 24

Hello everyone,

The Economic Society is back for more meetings with professionals.

Join us on Wednesay, November 24 at 7pm to meet Stéphane Dewulf, economist at RBB Economics Brussels working in competition policy.

His experience in economic consulting will undoubtedly be insightful to many of us. Stéphane has been working in competition policy since four years and has adviced clients in a wide range of industries on mergers, cartels, abuse of dominance and state aid. He worked on cases involving the EU Commission and several national competition authorities.

Stéphane holds a Masters in European Economics from the College of Europe in Bruges and a Masters in Competition and Market Regulation from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics.

Find more information on the webpage of RBB Economics.

Whether you are interested in an internship at RBB Economics or curious about economic consulting in general, register now to this event by sending an email to bureau@economicsociety.org!

The number of places will be limited to 15 and places will be distributed to the first inscriptions.

Have a good week,

The Economic Society

The Economic Society on air!

Hello everyone,

The Economic Society have been invited to take part to a radio broadcast! Seven of us were there, in the studio of the radio France Culture, to talk about, guess what, economics!

We joined four well-known economists, Olivier Pastré from Paris 8, David Thesmar from HEC, Patrick Artus from Polytechnique and Philippe Martin from Sciences Po, for one hour to discuss about how the economy was taught… interesting isn’t it?

It will be broadcasted on the radio France Culture, on November 13 from 8 AM to 9 AM… well it’s early but hopefully you can listen to it, as soon as it has been broadcasted, on this website.

So, if you’re not too reluctant to devote one more hour to economics, listen to us, and tell us what you thought of the broadcast on bureau@economicsociety.org

Have a nice week-end,

The Economic Society
