Welcome to the blog of The Economic Society. The first articles will be published in January. It may be yours: why don’t you start writing? To send in articles, just write to us at bureau@economicsociety.org.

We expect you to write about every issue you are interested in with an economic approach! It will be a great opportunity to use your scholar background to analyze many different issues. You are still not convinced? Some more arguments:

• A magazine is fixed in time and reduces the opportunities of response and confrontation. At a time where the new technologies of information and communication are preeminent, the blog provides you with a wonderful opportunity to launch debates about the issues you want.

• If one evening, you feel like writing and sharing twenty lines on a brilliant thought you had while travelling in the RER B, that’s perfectly fine: a blog is there to express one’s feeling or opinion about rational behaviors in the metro, exchange rates, the monetary value of a Human being or the last Nobel prize in Economics; and even more interesting, to interact with people that would or wouldn’t agree.

• Serious economists also like sharing not-so-serious thoughts about everything and anything, as their presence on the web shows it. Pretty funny to read (and to write as well), they do not only provide a constant distraction but also a good example that the Dismal Science might not be that dismal.

• It has no vocation to become another pseudo-freakonomics blog (with all the respect we have for Freakonomics), it will also be the place for discussing economic issues. It will indeed be an overview of the diverse ideas of The Economic Society members on economics.

• It is finally and above all a place to express one’s disagreement and one’s creativity, and as modest as our stone is to add to the building of Economics Thoughts, it would nevertheless be a stone.
